Pianist, Max Meyer headlined for the Grand Opening celebration for the Golden Hills Resort. Literally hundreds of locals and people from all over the region kept flowing through this gala event all night long. The new owners really knew how to throw a bash. Rory Maynard, CFO and Marketing Manager was smiles ear to ear. "We're just so please with the wonderful turn out and it is truly a pleasure to serve our community with a night like this." The resort had laid out a new bedroom right in the lobby so their guest could see the new pillow beds and coverings, which were so inviting. The restaurant had guest and dinners being served up until late in the evening. Everyone was complementing on how wonderful everything tasted and was presented. 5 star Chef, Dan Guillickson did a wonderful job. Black Hills, vacationers & travelers will definitely be well served by this new group of talented and professional travel hosts that we've received. BlackHills.TV Following the close of the Homestake Gold Mine, the mountain community of Lead was gasping it's last breath until a few energetic entrepreneurs kicked into high gear. Today, Lead is thriving again with the Grand opening of the Golden Hills Resort. "We see the beauty of this community and are geared towards the recreational aspects of the Northern Black Hills" says Rory Maynard, a partner in the Golden Hills Company. Maynard, also a partner in the new Edge Sports retail and rental company in Lead, says there is more gold in the northern hills but it is not the kind you pan for. "We want people to come and enjoy the beauty of the Black Hills". The Golden Hills partners plan to offer vacation packages for those seeking outdoor adventures such as skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking as well as guided tours for fly fishing, jeep tours, bike tours, Mickelson trail packages, group packages for reunions, corporations and retreat groups. Other partners of the Golden Hills Resort are locals Bill Mason, Grant Mason, Tom Groeger, Steve Jobe and Randy Albers. The group has recruited 5 star Chef, Dan Guillickson, who is the former owner of the 7th Hour Bistro in Spearfish as well as former Chef of the Midnight Star. Guillickson will be offering a continental cuisine and a special Sunday Brunch at the new hotel restaurant "Thyme on the Hill" as well as managing the bar, catering and room service. The bar "JAB or Just Another Bar" will open nightly with live entertainment. The Hotel was built in 1989 and has 100 rooms and conference space for 500. They offer free wireless internet, pool and fitness facilities, catering and conference services, room service, in house restaurant and bar and shuttle service to Deadwood. All of this in the pristine setting of the Black Hills.
